LT goes robotic
27 April 2004The Liverpool Telescope went robotic for the first time at 23h UT on 22nd April, automatically scheduling the night's observing and running through its list of observations successfully without human intervention. LT staff present (Iain Steele & Steve Fraser) report the first ever robotic run as overall very pleasing.
Every night since then, weather permitting, all observations have been made robotically, allowing on site staff to concentrate on improving telescope performance and instrument commissioning.
